Top Dog is latest Jeep Gladiator concept vehicle

Presenting the latest volley in the Jeep v. Bronco battle for off-road superiority: the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Top Dog concept prepared for the SEMA360 online aftermarket product show by FCA parts producer Mopar.

“Loaded with nearly 20 Jeep Performance Parts, we built this go-anywhere Jeep Gladiator Top Dog Concept for passionate mountain bike enthusiasts,” said Mark Bosanac, head of Mopar service, parts and customer care for North America. 

The Jeep concept, he added, was “built to handle the demands of an active lifestyle and offering one-of-a-kind open-air freedom.”

What distinguishes the concept is the replacement of the standard rear cargo box with a custom-built flatbed storage system. 

“On the passenger side of the storage system, pull-out drawers securely store tools and supplies that mountain bikers need when out on the trails,” Mopar said. “Vast interior storage shelves, exterior lighting switches and extra power supplies are within easy reach.

“On the driver’s side of the storage system, a battery-powered refrigerator and electric hot-dog roller grill stand ready to refuel riders for the next section of challenging trails.”

But wait, there’s much more…

“Above the cab area, two rack structures provide additional storage space for tools and equipment. Dual concept exterior task lights are mounted on each side and a set of traction mats for vehicle recovery and extraction are also attached to the storage racks. On top of the rack structure, a dual bike rack provides a safe way to transport the Trek mountain bikes to the trails.”

For enhanced off-road travel, the concept gets a 2-inch lift kit with Fox shocks, and rides on 17-inch JPP beadlock-capable aluminum wheels wrapped by 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires beneath “high-top” fender flares.

This Jeep also gets a JPP Rubicon front bumper with a 2-inch steel grille guard and an 8,000-pound capacity Rubicon Warn winch, with a second Warn winch at the rear, just below a roll-out storage drawer with a folding ladder for accessing the overhead bike rack. 

Need to ford a stream? The concept has a JPP snorkel. 

The vehicle also has 5-inch off-road lights at the base of the A pillars, JPP rock rails on both sides. 

The Jeep concept gets K-9 Blue exterior paint and a similar blue-and-black interior with Katzkin leather seats.
