The Porsche 914, or the VW-Porsche 914, is the great grandfather of the present 718 Cayman. Introduced as a mid-engined Targa-topped roadster, the 914 was sold from 1969 until 1976. After that, the 914 served as a less expensive 911, with similar fun-to-drive characteristics but underpowered engines. Half a century later, a 1972 model of the 914 with a weird Subaru flat-four engine swap is up for auction. The roadster has been stripped naked and has been modded from inside out. As a result, it is hard to say if it is still a Porsche or not.
