The SL-Class has a 68-year history, from the first 300 SL Grand Prix racing cars from 1954 to 2022 with the newly launched Mercedes-AMG SL. Mercedes had no intention of making a road-going SL until American importer Max Hoffman urged that it should because of the craze for personal high-end cars in post-WW2 America. So Mercedes took the chance and introduced the first SL at the 1954 New York Auto Show. Over the years, the SL-Class has become one of the
more luxurious convertibles with great performance too. Like the SL600 from 2004, which is currently for sale on Bring a Trailer. It is a V-12 powered beast and packs loads of luxury for the price of a cheap Japanese sedan.
