Aside from performance, there are a few notable design differences, too: The mash-up comes complete with back seats, which an authentic Veyron does not have. Moreover, the “suede ceiling and dash” and leather upholstery is a rather hodgepodge: The colors don’t match and it’s decidedly weathered, certainly not something you would see in a legitimate seven-figure Bugatti.
The BuCougar was first listed on Craigslist 13 days ago for $125,000 and has subsequently appeared on Car Export America for $128,000, which makes it either the world’s most expensive Mercury or the world’s cheapest Bugatti.
If you’re tempted by the possibility of getting a Bugatti lookalike for a tenth of the price—the marque sold around 450 Veyron’s for roughly $1.3 million each and bespoke versions for as much as $3.3 million—let us remind of the genuine luxury cars you can get for the same amount: Porsche’s new 2020 911 Carera (from $97,000), Tesla’s 2019 Model S (starts at $79,000) or the new 2020 Cayenne Coupe ($75,300 and $130,100 for the Coupe and Turbo Coupe, respectively).
That said, we can’t help but give this Florida Man an “A” for his audacity and imagination. Earlier this year, we saw similar ingenuity and pluck from a father and son duo who decided to 3-D print their very own Lamborghini Aventador. These ambitious undertakings may ruffle a few purist feathers, but they underscore the passion for design that supercars like the Veyron can instill. Robb Report has reached out for comment, but the creator is yet to respond. Perhaps he’s too busy turning a Ford Fiesta into a Ferrari Stradale.
