A west Melbourne speed shop has fallen victim to a break-in which saw three unique, high-performance engines stolen by brazen thieves.

A trio of thieves have stolen three high-performance engines estimated to be worth $160,000 from a speed shop in Melbourne’s west, breaking into the business with a stolen ute.

At about 5:00am on 9 November, police allege three men in separate cars drove to a workshop in Ravenhall – approximately 30 minutes west of Melbourne’s CBD – where one of the trio rammed the gates and security door with a stolen Nissan Navara ute.

Once inside the workshop, the three men loaded three engines – worth an estimated $160,000 combined – into two of the vehicles, before fleeing the scene and leaving the Navara behind.

In a post on Facebook, speed shop MotorLab identified itself as the victim of the break-in, posting information about the engines which were stolen from its workshop.

The three engines stolen by the thieves were custom-built by the speed shop for its customers, with the bespoke parts making it easier to identify the items.

“Each build is unique and put together in a very particular way to stand out from other engines. Please keep an eye out or if you see anything being sold,” the business posted on social media.

Victoria Police have urged anyone with information about the theft to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
