With the new 3 Series and 7 Series out of the nest, BMW is left with only the 5 Series, which is inching towards its debut in 2023. The 5 Series has always been the best among the trio as it offers excellent value and comes with many powertrain options, including a V-8. However, there is a rumor surrounding the upcoming M Performance version of the G60 5 Series. Folks at BMW BLOG argued that the existing M550i xDrive wouldn’t be updated, and a more efficient PHEV powertrain would replace the V-8 engine. It might shock most core BMW fans, but we got the hint earlier in July 2022.
