What Makes the C6 ZR1 Such a Legend?
Code-named Blue Devil, the ZR1 was developed secretly after the introduction of the Z06. Rumors that GM was sending the early prototypes to Germany for testing first surfaced in 2007. According to the rumors, the ZR1 was supposed to be powered by the same 7.0-liter V-8 as the Z06. Instead, GM went for an all-new powertrain code-named LS9. This engine is much smaller at 6.2-liter, but it came with an Eaton supercharger. As a result, the power figures were downright phenomenal, with 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque. The C6 ZR1 was the most potent V-8 production car under GM when it launched. It could do a 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and could run a quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds.
To give you some perspective, a Lamborghini Urus can do a 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. Even a V-10-powered Lamborghini Gallardo was behind in engine power with 512 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. However, the ZR1’s capabilities were known worldwide, which includes the attainable 205 mph top speed. The sportscar took only 7 minutes and 16 seconds to complete a lap around the Nürburgring test track. The C6 ZR1 was a tech-laden sportscar, which is one of its many positives. A unique feature among them is the Magnetic Selective Ride Control system. Unlike an adaptive suspension, this system includes several sensors, which read the road ahead of you and automatically adjust the suspension to keep you going without changing the tuning yourself.
Possibly the Coolest C6 Corvette in Existence
The C6 ZR1 is an absolute beast of a car, and one among the 4,695 examples is up for grabs. It has been driven for only 37 miles and is in the best possible shape. This 2011 iteration of the ZR1 comes with Velocity Yellow exterior paint and includes a 3ZR premium package. The features available with the package are:
- Limited-slip differential
- 19 and 20-inch multi-spoke chrome alloy wheels
- Brembo carbon ceramic brakes
- Bose audio system
- Heads-up display
- Power-adjustable seats
- Navigation
Fluid changes were performed in 2020, and the car comes with a Texas title, along with a clean Carfax report. We expect the final bidding price to be more than $100,000; if you are interested, it is a great deal.
