Iso, the automaker that merged Italian styling with American V8 power during the 1960s and ’70s, is being revived through two other revered automotive brands, Carrozzeria Zagato and Chevrolet Corvette, with a limited-production run of the 2021 IsoRevolta GTZ.

The GTZ is designed to emulate the 1963 Iso Revolta A3/C, the competition variant of the Iso Grifo A3/L sports car, with styling by Bertone’s Giorgetto Giugiaro, engineering by Giotto Bizzarrini, and power from a small-block Chevy V8 and 4-speed transmission from the Corvette.

(Note that the new automotive brand is IsoRevolta, combined into a single word, though with a capital R.)

The new IsoRevolta GTZ follows a similar path of the earlier Iso cars, with design by the legendary Zagato of Milan – which has restyled many cars from the world’s greatest automotive brands – applying its skill to the C7 Corvette, the final front-engine model. Now, however, the entire Corvette lies beneath the stylish carbon-fiber body, retaining the drivetrain, chassis, suspension and interior of the Chevrolet sports car.

The Corvette of choice is the high-performance Z06 model with its 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 engine producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, putting the GTZ solidly into supercar territory.

“Zagato presents the GTZ: the car which marks the rebirth of the IsoRevolta brand,” Zagato says on its website.  “This Gran Turismo has been designed as tribute to the iconic Iso Revolta A3 of 1963.”

Just 19 of the IsoRevolta GTZ coupes are planned for production, with at least nine of them sold before they were built.  Pricing was not available, but expect it to cost multiple times that of a stock Corvette.
