Several model lines could have airbags that don’t inflate to their full capacity. Note: This isn’t Takata related.
Skoda Australia has issued a recall for 27 vehicles across the 2018 model-year Fabia, Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia, Rapid and Superb lines due to an airbag fault that may see the driver’s unit not inflate properly in the event of a collision.
“In some instances, the front driver air bag may not inflate to its fullest capacity fast enough when required,” the company says in the recall notice.
“If the air bag doesn’t inflate fast enough, in the event of an accident there is an increased risk of injury to vehicle occupants.”
The VIN list for the 27 affected units is available here.
Owners will be contacted by Skoda Australia, and will be advised as to how to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
