Our first thought at seeing a photograph of the Ford Shelby F-250 Super Baja pickup was “monster truck.” Except this big and diesel-powered off-roader isn’t designed for showing off by crushing cars in some stadium, but for what Shelby American says is “daily and off-road adventure.”

With the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel pumping out 1,050 pound-feet of torque, it should come as no surprise that his vehicle offers best-in-class towing capability for the 3/4-ton category.

The truck’s capabilities also benefit from revised suspension that includes Fox performance parts and 37-inch BFG KM3 tires, with a pair of spares mounted on a steel rack in the pickup bed.

The truck also gets a functional Ram Air hood with extraction vent, powder-coated steel bumpers, tow points, air-flow vents, LED lighting, XL power steps with rock sliders and lights, a bed liner, stripes and badges.

“The astounding capabilities of the Ford Shelby F-150 truck led to requests for a three-quarter ton truck that delivered maximum towing capacity and serious off-road capabilities,” said Gary Patterson, Shelby American president.

“We leveraged expertise gained from our Shelby Raptor and Shelby F-150 programs to create the Shelby F-250 Super Baja pickup.”

“The amazing suspension on the Shelby F-250 Super Baja is engineered to handle a wide variety of terrain, from hardcore off-roading to performance street driving,” added Vince LaViolette, Shelby American vice president for operations and its chief designer.

“It includes a custom BDS lift system, custom front radius arms and dual steering stabilizer. We install front coilovers with Fox adjustable reservoirs in the front and Factory Race adjustable shocks with piggyback reservoirs in the rear. We integrate functional bodywork to maximize our modifications.”
