A second camera car has been targeted in Victoria – the fourth incident in less than two months.

Another unmarked speed camera car has been damaged during a targeted attack in Point Lonsdale, on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria.
Victoria Police say the Nissan X-Trail was parked on the side of the Bellarine Highway just before 9pm when a person approached the vehicle, smashing the windows with a metal rod and slashing all four tyres.
It’s understood the operator, who was inside the car at the time, was able to drive away to safety without injury.
It’s the second targeted attack against a speed camera car in a week, and the fourth such incident since 25 April.
This latest attack bears similarities to another attack last month in St Leonards – a 15 minute drive from Point Lonsdale – in which a metal rod was allegedly used to smash a camera car, with nail boards also placed at the tyres.
Police say the camera operator who was inside the car at the time of the St Leonards episode has been unable to return to work out of fear.
“It would be absolutely terrifying to be sitting in your car doing your job in the dark and all of a sudden out of nowhere comes some lunatic who attacks you with a pole,” Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Glenn Weir said in response to the latest incident.
“I just don’t understand why anyone is attacking someone who’s just going about doing their job, trying to protect Victorian roads.”
