The BMW Group shuffles its design deck, appointing new heads of design for its core brand and Rolls-Royce.

Jozef Kabaň has been appointed the new head of design for Rolls-Royce, effective from April 1, 2019. He effectively replaces Giles Taylor who quit the company suddenly in the middle of 2018 to move to the Chinese luxury marque Hongqi.

A year after graduating from the Royal College of Design in London, Kabaň was given the task of designing the exterior of the Bugatti Veyron.

He then worked with sister brand Audi before being appointed its head of exterior design in 2007. One year later, he moved across to Skoda in the same role.

The Slovak designer finally left the Volkswagen Group in 2017 when he replaced Karim Habib as the BMW brand’s design chief, after the former had decamped to Infiniti.

In addition to the Veyron, his other design credits include the Volkswagen Lupo, and Skoda Octavia, Kodiaq and Karoq.

With Kabaň now assigned to work full time at the ultra-exclusive British luxury marque, Domagoj Dukec has given the design hot seat at the core BMW brand.
