The new Croatian facility – which is slated to serve as the headquarters for Bugatti and electric hypercar maker Rimac – will feature a factory, test track, research centre, and museum.
Bugatti Rimac – a new conglomerate comprising the formally-independent electric vehicle specialist Rimac, and Volkswagen-owned French hypercar maker Bugatti – has begun work on new “state-of-the-art” headquarters facility.
Located on a 200,000 square-metre block near the town of Zagreb in Croatia, the €200 million ($AU310 million) ‘Rimac Campus’ will feature a factory, on-site test track, research centre, museum, showroom, restaurant, garden, and retail park.
Digital renders also appear to show several acres of rooftop solar panels, and a grass-topped tunnel or underpass.
According to Bugatti Rimac, “more than” 2500 employees will eventually work from the site. However, a date for its completion is yet to be announced.
Bugatti Rimac CEO, Mate Rimac, said: “Croatia will always be our home and to begin laying the foundations of our new long-term base is a huge milestone as we build something that allows us to best reflect our brand, ambitions and be a springboard for growth over the next decade and beyond.
“Strengthening our position as a hypercar maker, as well as a leading Tier 1 supplier of electric performance technology to the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, we can’t wait to show off the final creation and move in our long-term home.”
He has maintained a primary focus on industry trends, autonomous technology, electric vehicle regulations, and local environmental policy.
