The iconic Megane RS hot hatch will soon reach the end of the line, and will be succeeded by three electric Alpine models by 2025.
French manufacturer Renault has officially dissolved its famed performance division, opting to replace the Renault Sport moniker with soon-to-be-all-electric subsidiary Alpine.
The long-running Megane RS name will be retired once the current model’s life cycle comes to an end in the coming years. Meanwhile, the existing mid-engined Alpine A110 – which has been the historic brand’s sole model since it was revived in 2017 – is expected to be phased out over the next few years to make way for an electrified replacement.
Three all-new models will constitute the performance brand’s initial line-up, Alpine confirmed in January.
Teased earlier this year (as shown below), these are believed to be led by a Clio-sized hot hatch based on Renault’s CMF-B platform (speculated to be a variant of the upcoming electric Renault 5, and previously rendered by CarAdvice), plus a C-segment SUV underpinned by the electrified CMF-EV platform.
