A rare Ferrari was reportedly seen leaving a shopping centre in Italy moments before the owner lost control and crashed into a fence.

A 60-year-old Italian driver has crashed his rare Ferrari 275 GTB after leaving a shopping centre in San Rocco al Porto, Italy.

The incident occurred on 19 October 2023 in damp road conditions.

According to Italian media outlet Il Piacenza – via US website Motor1 – the driver walked away without any significant injuries.

However the same can’t be said for the limited edition $4.7 million yellow Ferrari.

Damage can be seen on the front right panel, the fender, and there appears to be a missing headlight cover.

Mechanical damage has not been specified, but the owner – or the insurance company – is likely to face an expensive repair bill.

The Ferrari 275 GTB is extremely rare, with fewer than 500 examples built from 1964-1966.

Earlier this year, Steve McQueen’s special edition Ferrari 275 GTB/4 – equipped with bodywork crafted by iconic coach-building firm Scaglietti – sold at a Sotheby’s auction for a reported $AU8.5 million.
