The ageing Nissan Patrol V8 petrol outsold its newer Toyota LandCruiser V6 diesel rival for the second month in a row, as Nissan continued to receive large shipments and Toyota experienced production delays.
Historically, the Toyota off-roader has outsold its Nissan rival by almost six-to-one.
For reference, 15,078 Toyota LandCruiser ‘wagons’ were reported as sold in 2020 compared to just 3333 Nissan Patrols.
However, limited stock for the new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series – and improved supply of the Nissan Patrol – have turned the tables on the contest.
In February 2022, 670 Nissan Patrols were reported as sold compared to just 612 Toyota LandCruiser wagons.
Last month, the gap widened: 918 Nissan Patrols were sold versus 844 Toyota LandCruiser wagons.
“This is a reward for all the patience of our customers in the queue,” a major metropolitan Nissan dealer told Drive last month.
Last year the Nissan Patrol outsold the Toyota LandCruiser during its model change-over period in August, September, and October.
He has maintained a primary focus on industry trends, autonomous technology, electric vehicle regulations, and local environmental policy.
