The manufacturer’s iconic off-roader will be discontinued in its home market later this year, marking the end of a 37-year run.

Mitsubishi has announced the Pajero Final Edition for the Japanese market, limited to just 700 units.

UPDATE, 29/4/19: Mitsubishi Australia has issued a statement regarding the Pajero’s future in our market. See bottom of article for details

The large off-roader will end a 37-year stint in its homeland when it’s discontinued in August, though certain export markets like Australia will continue to get the long-running nameplate.

Based on the top-spec Exceed variant, the Final Edition gets features like a power sunroof and roof rails, leather upholstery (in black or ivory), powered front seats and illuminated ‘Final Edition’ sill plates.

An available Final Edition Accessory Package brings a rear spoiler, spare tyre cover and mud flaps with Pajero badging.

Buyers of the Final Edition will also get special stickers and a Mitsubishi-branded watch from Citizen.

Power comes from the familiar 3.2-litre turbo-diesel making 140kW and 441Nm, mated to a five-speed automatic and selectable four-wheel drive system with locking rear differential.
