Back in 1999, former BMW and Williams Formula One driver, Nick Heidfeld, broke the Goodwood Hill Climb record with a time of 41.6 seconds. He was driving a McLaren MP4/13 Formula 1 car, and since then, no other F1 car has been allowed to run the hill, so the record was never broken. Well, at least not until 2022, when a McMurtry Spéirling – a demonstrator car from the British electric car manufacturer McMurtry Automotive – broke the all-time record with a time of 39.08 seconds. In all honesty, a Volkswagen ID.R did the same hill climb in 39.9 seconds back in 2019, but the time was set during the qualifying sessions, and therefore didn’t count.
