The live collector car auction action resumed in California in late November with McCormick’s fall sale in Palm Springs. The auction posted $4.226 million in sales with a 61 percent sell-through rate.
McCormick’s reports that it limited attendance to 2,000 people at any given time at the open-air site and employed six health and safety workers to assure temperature checks and social distancing, that all present were wearing protective masks, and that hand-sanitizer stations were appropriately stationed.

Among the auction’s top sales were a 1959 Porsche 356A that sold for $150,520, a 2002 BMW Z8 that also sold for $150,520, a 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE coupe that brought $82,150 and a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL that went for $80,560. Prices include buyer’s fee.
McCormick’s next sale, it’s 70th, is scheduled for February 26-28, 2021, at the Palm Springs Convention Center’s outdoor event area.
