Lockdown in Australia: What you can and can’t do with your car – UPDATE

Those in the council areas of Armidale, Cessnock, Dungog, Dubbo, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrooke, Port Stephens, Singleton, Newcastle and the Hunter, Northern Rivers (Ballina, Byron, City of Lismore and Richmond Valley), Far North NSW (Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Coonabmle, Gilgandra, Narromine, Walgett, and Warren), and Tamworth are all subject to stay-at-home orders.

For those in Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong, and Shellharbour local governments, stay-at-home rules apply. You are only permitted to leave your house for a “reasonable excuse,” which includes:

Until 6:00am Friday 30 July 2021, those in Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan City, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Gold Coast local government areas will be required to wear masks at all times when outside of the home, where physically distancing is not possible.

For those in Darwin, Litchfield, Palmerston, Wagait, and Belyuen areas, the lockdown is expected to end at 1pm on Friday 2 July 2021, while the Alice Springs lockdown will end at 1pm on Saturday 3 July 2021.

If you are in Alice Springs, Darwin, Litchfield, Palmerston, Wagait, and Belyuen areas, you are not allowed to simply go for a drive. Driving is only allowed if it is for one of the permitted reasons.

For now, interstate travel is restricted for those currently within Alice Springs, Darwin, Litchfield, Palmerston, Wagait, and Belyuen areas. Permits are required when crossing the state borders, and those wishing to travel interstate may have to submit to 14-day quarantine orders when entering other states or upon their return.
