A new video posted by Ford’s boss provides a soundtrack to the upcoming F-150 Raptor R.

The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R has been teased in a new video posted on social media, giving fans a chance to hear the pick-up’s new powertrain.

Ford CEO Jim Farley tweeted the one-minute video of the F-150 Raptor R, which is all but confirmed to borrow its 5.2-litre supercharged V8 from the Mustang Shelby GT500.

The force-fed V8 engine is set to offer as much as 567kW and 846Nm – a significant performance bump over the F-150 Raptor’s 335kW and 691Nm, produced from a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6.

The Raptor R is the Blue Oval’s response to the Ram 1500 TRX, which is fitted with a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 putting out 523kW and 881Nm, allowing the full-size pick-up to hit 100km/h in a touch over 4.5 seconds.

It appears as if Ford is planning to position the F-150 Raptor R as a legitimate off-road vehicle, with information surfacing last month suggesting the vehicle will be offered with 37-inch all-terrain tyres on 17-inch wheels, along with skid plates, a 4.10 final drive and limited-slip differential, and Fox shock absorbers.
