Thinking of buying a new Lamborghini? Think again. They’re sold out until the middle of 2024.

Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini is selling more cars than it can manufacture, with the brand’s order books now filled until the middle of 2024.

Lamborghini is on track to record its best sales year ever in 2022, with 7430 new cars sold to the end of September, according to data seen by Drive at the recent launch of the brand’s newest super SUV, the Urus Performante.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed to US media the company had already sold out its entire allocation for 2023, with wait times for a new Lambo stretching well into 2024.

“We already have 18 to 19 months waiting period for a new car,” he told US outlet, Fox Business. “We are selling more cars than we are able to produce.”

The Lamborghini Urus SUV made up the bulk of sales (59 per cent) so far this year, with 4384 recorded as sold to the end of September.

Lamborghini’s sales in the first three quarters of this year (January to September) have already equalled the brand’s second-best sales year ever, 2020, when it sold 7430 cars – despite a global pandemic.

In a boost to the brand’s future sales, Lamborghini executives revealed it had already received 3000 orders for the successor to the ageing Aventador – which will be the brand’s first all-new model since the Urus was released in 2018.

Due to be released in 2023, the Aventador replacement will be powered by a hybrid system coupled to a new generation of Lamborghini’s heroic petrol V12, the manufacturer’s first foray into electrification.

The long-awaited replacement for the Huracan – first introduced back in 2014 – will also adopt hybrid power when it launches in 2024, with unconfirmed reports suggesting it may be based around a twin-turbo V8.

Lamborghini’s sales success isn’t limited to overseas markets, as the Italian brand is enjoying success in Australia as well.

So far in 2022, Lamborghini has reported 151 cars as sold to the end of October, according VFACTS data supplied by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).

That’s up 29.1 per cent when compared with the same period last year – and has already eclipsed the Lamborghini total for 2021 when it recorded 131 sales.
