Jenson Button was on the top of the world some 11 years ago when he became the first British racing driver since Damon Hill in 1996 to become Formula 1 World Drivers’ Champion but there was no sign of elation on the now-former F1 star’s face on November 8, 2020 as he climbed out of his McLaren 720S GT3.

A lackluster race around the legendary Silverstone Grand Prix loop ended similarly inconspicuous for Button and team-mate Chris Buncombe, as the duo was classified 14th overall out of 16 GT3 cars that were still running at the end of the three-hour event proving that even someone with 306 F1 races under his belt can struggle when thrown at the deep end in a new discipline.
