The two ID. Buzz vehicles were designed in cooperation with Lucasfilm, and they were inspired by Ob-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader – the two main characters of the series.

“The opportunity to explore how ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and the Volkswagen brand could come together on a vehicle was pure fun. The themes of good and evil, light and dark aren’t necessarily concepts we apply to cars. The ID. Buzz collaboration offered an unique opportunity to have the cars become graphic reflections of two iconic characters,” says Doug Chaing, Lucasfilm VP and Executive Creative Director.

The beige finish, inspired by the Obi-Wan Kenobi’s tunic is used for the lower section of the car, while chrome is used for the upper section.

The first of the two vehicles – the ID. Buzz ‘Light Side Edition’, is painted in a combination of beige, chrome, and blue. The beige finish, inspired by the Obi-Wan Kenobi’s tunic is used for the lower section of the car, while chrome is used for the upper section. It was inspired by the design of spaceships and droids from the Star Wars universe. The blue color – inspired by Obi-Wan’s blue lightsaber – was used for the headlights, the glass surfaces, and a line that runs the entire side of the car. The car rides on special 21-inch wheels, while “Rebel Alliance” logos are placed on the side windows and the center caps of the rims.

The second special edition is based on the Cargo version of the ID. Buzz and embodies the Dark Side of the movie.

The second special edition is based on the Cargo version of the ID. Buzz and embodies the Dark Side of the movie. It features a combination of black and red just like the character that inspired it. Shiny black is found for the lower section of the car, and matte black for the upper part. Darth Vader’s lightsaber red inspired the headlights, light strips, window surfaces, and of course, the sidelines. Just like the Light Side Edition, the Dark Side Edition rides on special wheels and will bear the logo of the Empire on the side windows and the center caps.

Built on the MEB architecture, the ID. Buzz is powered by a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It delivers a total of 201 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque and will get its juice from an 82 kWh battery pack. The ID. Buzz should arrive in the States in early 2023.
