Some of the rarest Japanese cars ever made are going under the hammer in Australia.
Australian-based auction house Chrome Temple Motors has listed 11 sought-after cars in its ‘Japanese Domestic Market’ auction event.
Among the listings are claimed to be some of the “rarest” and “best” examples of Japanese sports cars ever produced.
Made famous by the Gran Turismo video game franchise, Tommykaira was once a second-stage vehicle manufacturer that built ‘upgraded’ versions of road cars, similar to Alpina’s relationship with BMW.
The example is claimed to be just one of 93 ever produced, and in “museum/collector condition” having travelled just 13,786km from new.
Drive previously reported this car for sale on the private market, where it was listed for $AU328,000.
As rare and uniquely configured Nissan Skyline GT-Rs continue to set new price records monthly – with one recently trading for over $AU400,000 – this example’s history and condition make it one to watch.
The auction is set to run for nine days, with all lots set to end on 17 October 2021.
