Genesis has debuted the third member of its series of ‘X’ concepts: a two-door electric convertible with a folding hardtop roof and four seats.

The Genesis X Convertible concept has been unveiled – at an event on the eve of the Los Angeles motor show – as the third X-badged concept car from Hyundai’s growing luxury brand.
But there’s no sign of a production version of any of the X concepts – and Genesis instead pitches the X Convertible and its peers as previews of the design features of future Genesis electric cars.
The X Convertible shares its front end with the X Speedium Coupe concept, with two LED light strips serving as the headlights and creating the outline of the brand’s ‘crest’ grille.
The car’s proportions are closer to a car with a petrol engine than an electric vehicle, with a large gap between the front axle and dashboard (known as the dash-to-axle ratio), short front overhang, long wheelbase, and long rear deck.
The Genesis brand’s two-line light signatures continue through the indicators and tail-lights, while there are openings in the front bumper for battery cooling, and striking multi-spoke alloy wheels with elements designed to draw heat away from the brakes.
The exterior colour is called Crane White, which Genesis says reflects that cranes in South Korea “represent nobility and sanctity”. The paint itself is “coated in white with pearl particles,” the brand says.
Inside, the cabin is derived from the X Speedium Coupe, with digital displays wrapped around the driver, a rotary shift dial, two-spoke steering wheel, and a range of premium fabric and metallic materials.
The main interior colour is Giwa Navy – named after the ‘Giwa’ roof tiles on South Korean houses – accented by Dancheong Orange, named after decorative elements on Korean house rooftops.
Giwa Navy is seen on recyclable wool fabric, woven trim and leather seat inserts, while Dancheong Orange is used on the upper dashboard, and contrast stitching throughout.
Other highlights include the black hardtop roof, four sports sats, and a “high-performance” sound system said to have been developed by “sound master Guk-il Yu”.
No specifications for the concept’s electric drivetrain have been confirmed – nor its predecessors, the X Concept and X Speedium Coupe.
There is no indication a production version of the Genesis X Convertible is in development.
