Here’s why it’s not a good idea to switch off traction control on a 588kW supercar in the city.
Turning off traction control in the centre of London isn’t a great idea at the best of times, but when you’re driving a 588kW Ferrari 812 Superfast it’s just asking for trouble.
Footage posted to YouTube this week shows a young driver crashing the powerful Italian supercar after lighting up the rears on Lambeth Bridge.
The impact was so significant all four airbags appear to have been deployed.
Coming off the Albert Embankment – running parallel to the Thames River – the driver appears to floor the throttle, and the rear end of the car almost instantly steps out to the left.
A clumsy correction veers him back across the road into an Armco barrier, narrowly missing a pedestrian and cyclist in the process.

The identity of the driver hasn’t been revealed.
According to some media reports the vehicles was rented, however this has not been confirmed.
The 812 Superfast derives its power from a 6.5-litre V12 engine, and drive is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
