Can I use dishwashing liquid to wash my car?

You might think there’s little difference between special car wash and dishwashing liquid. After all, both are a liquid detergent intended for cleaning solid objects with warm soapy solution, aren’t they? It’s not quite that simple because, for a start, cars and dishes get dirty in very different ways.
