The Volkswagen subsidiary says it will offer 20 electrified models by 2025.
German automotive manufacturer Audi will no longer develop new internal combustion engines, CEO Marcus Duesmann has confirmed.
Speaking to Automobilwoche earlier this week, Mr Duesmann said: “The EU plans for even stricter Euro 7 emissions standards present a significant technical challenge… this is very restrictive for [development of] the combustion engine.
“We will no longer develop new internal combustion engines, but, instead, will adapt our existing internal combustion engines to new emission guidelines.”
Audi has previously signalled its intention to offer 20 electrified models by 2025.
The Volkswagen-owned manufacturer currently sells an E-Tron electric SUV, priced from $137,100 plus on-road costs in Australia.
