The luxury sedan is part of a wider trio of concept vehicles from Audi to show off future design potential.
Audi has again teased its autonomous-driving electric Grandsphere concept car, ahead of the formal unveiling this Friday.
The luxury sedan – which is one of three new showpieces from the German brand, alongside the Skysphere concept modular convertible and yet-to-be-seen Urbansphere concept SUV – will reportedly feature four seats, rear-hinged back doors, a wood-trimmed interior, and “Level Four” autonomous-driving capabilities – that is, it will not require human input under most circumstances, however the driver will have the option of taking control.
The latest image in the global drip-feed media campaign shows the front silhouette, sleek headlights, sloped roofline, and aerodynamic camera-based side ‘mirrors,’ similar to those available as an option on the Audi E-Tron electric SUV.
Assuming it shares its powertrain with the Skysphere concept coupe unveiled in August, a single electric motor on the rear axle would send 465kW/750Nm to the ground via a single-speed transmission.
The Audi Grandsphere concept will debut on September 3, Australian time. A physical mock-up of the vehicle is also expected to make an appearance at the Munich motor show, from September 7.
