The 2017 V8 Commodore SSV Redline could fetch as much as $500,000, according to the auction house facilitating the sale.
The top bid for the ‘last’ Holden Commodore assembled in Australia has more than doubled in less than 24 hours and now sits at $255,000 – with two days remaining before the auction concludes.
The status of the vehicle is disputed – officially, the last Holden Commodore to ceremonially roll off the production line was kept by General Motors.
However the example listed for sale has the last Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), was the last body to be built, and the last car through the paint shop in late 2017.
Finished in the SSV Redline trim, the V8 sedan was also the last to be framed and painted Down Under.
A keen-eyed Holden factory worker unearthed the status of the vehicle, and tracked it down to a Melbourne dealership – it’s is now up for grabs, with just 102 kilometres clocked since new.
A spokesperson for Lloyds Auctioneers – which is facilitating the sale – told CarAdvice “we really do not know [how much it will ultimately sell for] – there is no precedent.”
“The bids started at a dollar, it’s currently above $250,000 and it wouldn’t surprise me if it fetched half a million due to the level of enquiry,” the spokesperson added.
