Certain late-model Audi cars are affected by a defect which could cause a sudden loss of engine power.
Audi Australia has recalled 7758 examples of its Audi A3 small car and Q2 small SUV, following the discovery of a fuse box wiring fault which could cause the vehicles to suddenly lose power while driving.
While the recall notice is for examples of the A3 and Q2 built between 2019 and 2023, the most recent-generations of Audi’s small models launched locally in early-2022 and mid-2021, respectively.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to an installation defect, the internal fuse box wiring harness may become loose.
“If this occurs, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate, internal, external lamps may switch off, and the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving.
“A sudden loss of motive power and reduced or poor visibility whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
