The 2021 Dodge Ram TRX
The Blue TRX seen here is a bone stock truck with no mods. The RAM has a 6.2 Liter HEMI V-8 Engine that produces 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, routed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Dodge’s full-size performance pick-up has been touted as “the quickest, fastest and most powerful truck ever.”
The Races
The TRX goes up against some odd vehicles in three different passes. We didn’t have the performance numbers of the competition as the YouTuber did not put out any specs of the competition.
TRX vs E90 BMW 3 Series
First in line to take on the TRX was the E90 BMW 3 Series. From the looks of it, this Beemer seems like it has some performance mods like a carbon front bumper and a subtle lip spoiler, which ought to help with cutting down on weight, ideal for the drag strip. Both cars lined up at the start line for launch.
The lights turn green and the BMW pulls away because, the TRX’s driver was preoccupied with, using the center screen. Despite the poor start from the RAM, the quarter-mile times tell a different story. The Pick-Up truck still managed a quicker time of the two, at 12.72 seconds against the BMWs 13.45 seconds to do the standing quarter.
TRX vs Challenger R/T Scat Pack
Next in line was Mopar brother in the form of the Dodge Challenger, which has the same engine as the TRX, but makes 100 more horses from the same 6.2 Liter V-8 engine, adding up to 800 horsepower. It was quite a sight to see these two Dodge’s line-up at the start line.
The hammer drops and the Challenger initially struggle for traction and then gets going alright. The RAM driver’s reaction time, this time round was thankfully much better when compared to the previous pass. The Pick-Up runs pretty close to the Muscle car all the way to the quarter-mile line.
The Challenger set’s a time of 12.77 seconds while the TRX was not very far behind clocking in a time of 12.97 seconds.
TRX vs modified Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The final contender to take on the TRX was an old Chevy Pick-Up, which looks like a sleeper. It’s only when you look at the giant backward-facing hood scoop and the performance Hoosier rubber that the Chevy is wearing do you realize that this truck might just have some serious performance under the hood.
Lining up against the TRX, the Chevy puts that sticky rubber to the ground. The lights turn green and from the get-go it’s all over. The Chevy lept forward and had a phenomenal launch and led this one all the way to the finish line, taking the win.
It clocked in a time of 11.60 seconds, while the RAM was just over a second slower at 12.65 seconds.
Conclusion
The TRX that showed up at the drag strip had off-road tires and all the added weight of being a full-size pickup truck. The quarter-mile times, that it puts out, truly are astonishing and defy the laws of physics. We wonder as to how would the TRX fare at the Drag Strip, with some performance mods and rubber.
