The high-performance version of the new Nissan Z sports coupe has been previewed in a smoke-filled teaser video, ahead of a formal unveiling due within two months.
Nissan has confirmed plans for a high-performance 2024 Nissan Z Nismo sports car in a new teaser video, ahead of its global unveiling due by the end of August 2023.
The teaser video released by Nissan overnight leaves little of the Z Nismo’s design under wraps.
There’s a new front fascia with a larger and slimmer air intake and deeper splitter, new side skirts, a taller rear diffuser, subtle wheel-arch extensions, a larger rear ‘ducktail’ spoiler, and red accents around the car.
The 19- or 20-inch wheels are new – with a design akin to the GT-R Nismo supercar – wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres, and hiding upgraded brakes with red calipers.
Inside, changes visible include black and red suede-trimmed Recaro sports bucket seats, a new leather and suede-trimmed steering wheel with a red centre marker, and Nismo graphics for the instrument cluster.
Overseas reports have said to expect lower, stiffer suspension, a louder sports exhaust, Yamaha performance dampers (for the chassis, not suspension), and increased use of chassis bracing.
The 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 is expected to be fettled to produce higher power and torque outputs than the 298kW and 475Nm in the standard Nissan Z.
The Nismo Z pictured in this teaser video is an automatic, as paddle shifters are visible behind the steering wheel. It’s unclear if a six-speed manual version will be available.
Nissan promises “full details” of the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo will be released “later this [northern hemisphere] summer”, pointing to a formal unveiling by the end of August 2023. Australian arrival details are yet to be confirmed.
