Mazda has dropped manual versions of the BT-50 GT, SP and Thunder due to low demand, while the mid-range XTR is now equipped with tyre pressure monitoring – and prices across all models increase.
- 2023 Mazda BT-50 pricing and specifications
- BT-50 XTR fitted with tyre pressure monitoring
- Manual BT-50 GT, SP and Thunder axed
- Priced from $35,370 plus on-road costs
The 2023 Mazda BT-50 line-up has become more expensive as a new feature is added to the XTR variant, and low demand sees the manual transmission removed as an option for the three flagship grades.
Mazda Australia has confirmed the BT-50 range has undergone price increases between $1420 and $2120, with the extra costs applied to all utes delivered after 1 January 2023.
The Mazda BT-50 single-cab chassis remains as the ute’s cheapest variant when equipped with a 1.9-litre engine and rear-wheel drive, priced from $35,370 plus on-road costs – an increase of $1420.
Equipment levels for the XS and XT are unchanged from 2022, with all versions of both variants incurring a $1420 premium.
The Mazda BT-50 XTR is the only grade to score an equipment upgrade, now fitted with a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard. This change has resulted in the prices of the four BT-50 XTR variants increasing by $1520.
Mazda has not changed the standard equipment on the BT-50 GT, SP and Thunder, despite all three variants going up in price by $2120.
For 2023, the BT-50’s three flagship grades are no longer available with a six-speed manual transmission, with Mazda Australia removing the three-pedal option due to low demand.
Previously, examples of the Mazda BT-50 GT, SP and Thunder were $3000 cheaper when purchased with the manual transmission compared to the six-speed automatic.
The Mazda BT-50 continues to be powered by a choice of two diesel engines across the line-up – a 110kW/350Nm turbocharged 1.9-litre four-cylinder and a 140kW/450Nm turbocharged 3.0-litre four-cylinder.
While the 1.9-litre engine is exclusively mated to an automatic transmission, the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel is available with either manual or automatic gearboxes in XT and XTR guise.
The BT-50’s XS, XT and XTR variants are all available in either 4×2 (rear-wheel drive) or 4×4 (four-wheel drive) specification, while GT, LE, SP and Thunder grades are exclusively 4×4.
The 2023 Mazda BT-50 is on sale now.
