Mid-life update to Volkswagen Polo will be revealed on Thursday, changes promise to be more than skin deep.

The facelifted 2022 Volkswagen Polo will be unveiled globally on 22 April – two days from now – ahead of an expected Australian arrival early next year.

A teaser image released alongside the announcement provides a glimpse at the updated Polo’s front end, with the facelifted city car to gain revised LED headlights and a new grille, with an LED daytime-running light strip running across its width, as per the Golf, Arteon and other recent Volkswagen models.

Spy photos confirm elongated tail-lights and new lower bumper designs will feature at the rear, while it’s likely the interior will benefit from a handful of upgrades, including a new touch-based climate control panel, and updated infotainment software.

Few changes are expected to the engine line-up for Australia, with the 70kW/170Nm and 85kW/200Nm 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder, and 147kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder mills likely to carry over locally.
