Mitsubishi’s all-new Outlander arrives in Australia this November, offering more space and new technology but higher prices.
The outgoing Outlander ES starts from $29,990 before on-road costs, or $30,490 drive-away – meaning that by the time on-road costs are added to the new model (excluding any manufacturer drive-away offers), the cheapest ticket into a 2022 Outlander will be close to $37,490 drive-away, an increase of $8000 versus today’s most affordable variant.
Opening the range is the Outlander ES, priced from $34,490 before on-road costs for a five-seat 2WD model, $35,490 for a seven-seat two-wheel-drive (2WD) variant, or $36,990 for a five-seat AWD version.
Standard equipment includes a 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto (but no mention of satellite navigation), a 7.0-inch instrument display, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, black fabric seat trim, dual-zone front climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and an electric parking brake.
A slew of active safety technologies are standard, including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, and eight airbags, including one between the front seats to prevent occupants’ heads colliding in a side-impact collision.
With seven seats as standard, the LS gains a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather gear selector, keyless entry, rear cross-traffic alert, wireless smartphone charging, automatic LED headlights with auto high-beam, a hands-free power tailgate, heated side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and more.
The mid-spec Mitsubishi Outlander Aspire – priced from $41,490 to $43,990 before on-road costs – adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, colour head-up display, heated front seats, Microsuede and synthetic leather upholstery, an electric driver’s seat with lumbar support, 360-degree camera, and auto-levelling headlights.
Available only with all-wheel drive, the Outlander Exceed ($47,990 before on-road costs) adds black or light grey leather seats, tri-zone climate control, memory front seats, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, rear sun blinds, and body-coloured exterior trim.
Available colours on all bar the Exceed Tourer include White (solid), Sterling Silver metallic, Titanium metallic, Cosmic Blue pearlescent, White Diamond ‘prestige’, Black Diamond prestige and Red Diamond prestige. Metallic and pearlescent hues cost an additional $740, while prestige colours add $940.
All Outlander models are offered with a standard 10-year/200,000km warranty, 10-year capped-price servicing plan and four years of roadside assist when serviced through Mitsubishi dealers. When serviced elsewhere, coverage drops to five years and 100,000km of warranty, and 12 months of roadside assist.
