The first all-new Mitsubishi Outlander in nine years is just around the corner. Now a camouflaged version has been spotted testing on the streets of Melbourne.

Although the vehicle was cloaked in graphics designed to disguise the shape of the new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, official photos released in February 2021 (pictured at the bottom of this story) show what it will really look like.

While the side view and silhouette look familiar and share some of the design themes of the current model, the new-generation Mitsubishi Outlander will adopt the company’s bold new front fascia design.

Prices and specification for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander are due to be released closer to the vehicle’s Australian showroom arrival in October 2021.

CarAdvice understands the next-generation model will be available with a full suite of advanced safety technology, new levels of luxury, five- and seven-seat configurations, and a more efficient petrol engine.

The plug-in hybrid version of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is expected to follow regular versions sometime in early 2022.

In the meantime, the current-generation Mitsubishi Outlander remains in run-out mode with discounted drive-away prices, though stock levels and colour choices are limited as dealers sell down inventory.

Price and specification lists for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander are expected to be released closer to the planned October on-sale date.
