Mercedes-AMG’s first plug-in hybrid car has been unveiled – and it’s the brand’s most powerful series-production car yet.

Seven drive modes are on offer – Electric, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race, Slippery and Individual – with each mode dialing up the aggression from all-electric driving at speeds up to 130km/h in the first mode, to a maximum attack setting that unleashes full power from the electric motor for race track use.

Visually, there’s little to differentiate the GT63 S E Performance from facelifted versions of the ‘regular’ GT63 S, with changes limited to E Performance badging, red accents on the GT63 S badge, and a charging flap on the rear bumper. A slew of styling packages, exterior colours and wheel designs are also available.
