The five-year-old DB11 GT car has gained a selection of updates, as part of a wider revised MY22 Aston Martin line-up.

The 2022 Aston Martin DB11 has received a round of updates for the new model year.

Leading the updates to Aston Martin’s mid-tier grand touring car is a power boost for the ‘entry-level’ DB11’s Mercedes-AMG-developed 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, from 375kW to 393kW – matching the special-edition Vantage F1 Edition revealed earlier this year.

No details of torque outputs or 0-100km/h times have been given, though the top speed has increased from 301km/h to 309km/h.

Meanwhile, the ‘AMR’ badge has been dropped from the range-topping V12 model – with the variant now simply known as the ‘V12 Coupe’ – though the outgoing halo’s 470kW/700Nm 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine and sports suspension tune have been retained following the transition.

New ‘Sports Plus’ seats can also be optioned on the DB11, claimed to “add extra support to the shoulders, thorax and legs for both the driver and passenger” versus the standard seats.

Elsewhere in the Aston Martin range, the flagship, 1800kg DBS grand tourer has dropped ‘Superleggera’ from its name, returning to the three-letter ‘DBS’ nameplate previously seen on the vehicles of 2007-2012 and 1967-1972.

Other Model Year 2022 highlights include new 21-inch wheel designs for the Vantage and DBS, plus a selection of additions for the DBX SUV, including 23-inch alloy wheels, new Sports Plus seats and a wireless smartphone charging pad.

The updates coincide with the introduction of a new online configurator for the Aston Martin brand, based around Epic Games’ Unreal graphics engine, as seen in video games from the Assetto Corsa Competizione track racer to the Fortnite ‘battle royale’ game.

Included in the new configurator is a “new series of interior trim environments” – named Create, Accelerate and Inspire – which offer unique upholstery, trim inlay and colour choices intended to “[showcase] a different design character to suit a customer’s individual taste”.
