According to the Volvo, the control module fault could prevent airbag deployment in a crash.
Volvo Australia has recalled 57 examples of its XC90 SUV, citing a fault with the airbag control module.
The affected vehicles were sold between 1 October 2020 and 31 January 2021 (Model Year 2021).
The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says: “The SRS [supplementary restraint system] control unit may not be tightened to the vehicle’s body correctly. If this occurs, the airbag system light will illuminate and an error message will appear on the instrument panel.”
“In the event of an accident, the airbag may not deploy. This could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants,” the notice continues.
