What changes were made under the hood?
While most of the attention was offered to improving the car’s general look, a few changes were made under the hood too
In Europe, the Golf R Variant is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers a total of 315 horsepower and 308 pound-feet of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph).
Pretty good numbers for a sports station wagon, if you think about it. But PS-Sattlerei took these numbers even further. With some ECU updates and a new exhaust system with two black twin tailpipes the output went up to an impressive 560 horsepower. No words on the performance numbers, but for sure will be a lot better than the standard Golf R Variant.
The tuner also opted to install the front brakes from the Audi RS3 in order to obtain better deceleration values.
What’s different on the exterior?
When it comes to Volkswagen models, the Golf R is probably the best-looking one. But what will happen if some carbon fiber is being added to the recipe? You will end up with an even better-looking car, of course!
The body kit offered by PS-Sattlerei is pretty much all made out of carbon fiber. Up front there is a new spoiler blade, new air intakes on the apron, and the hood – all made in carbon fiber.
The same treatment is being applied for the exterior mirror caps, side skirts, as well as side rear skirt extensions and even a roof rail.
And finally, in the back, the new diffuser insert, the roof edge spoiler, and the side moldings next to the rear window are all made in carbon fiber too.
The PS-Sattlerei Golf R rides on 19-inch black OZ Ultraleggera HLT wheels wrapped in Hankook tires in 235/35ZR19. It also gets a KW DDC coilover suspension and H&R stabilizers.
The most impressive changes were made to the interior
For the interior, PS-Sattlerei opted to use a lot of black Alcantara
Lets face it, no matter how decent the exterior of the Golf R might be, the interior is dull and boring. It doesn’t scream “performance!” So, the tuner really worked on changing this; in fact most of the changes, in this case, were made on the interior.
It started by finishing all the interior in black Alcantara.
The famous microfiber material was used for the top and bottom of the dashboard, the headlining and the pillars, the center console, the door panels, the entrances, parts of the seats, and the trunk cover.
It was combined with black Bentley leather used for the doors and seats, elements covered in blue Alcantara and honeycomb-shaped quilted blue stitching. Volkswagen’s standard silver elements, like the borders of the air nozzles, the dashboard unit, and the speakers in the A-pillars were also glazed blue for an even more intense contrast.
The steering wheel is also completely redesigned
The steering wheel is also completely redesigned. It received PSS Evo conversion and functional additional buttons from the Audi R8. It is of course covered in carbon fiber, with the same material being used from the steering column trim to moldings on the dashboard and doors and the shift knob.
And finally, even the floor mats are completely finished in color-coordinated leather and Alcantara.
