2021 Mazda CX-30 price and specs

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 small SUV was first introduced to Australians early in 2021. Within 18 months, the SUV has begun posting similar sales numbers to Mazda’s other, smaller and longer-standing SUV, the Mazda CX-3.

Along the way, Mazda took the opportunity to top-and-tail the range too, adding an entry-level price leader at the bottom, and a unique ‘X20 M Hybrid’ model at the top. It’s resulted in a complex range, with four trim levels of Mazda CX-30 now offered (Pure, Evolve, Touring, Astina), five different drivelines, and some with the option of all-wheel drive. 

It starts with the 2021 Mazda CX-30 G20 Pure manual, from $28,990 before on-road costs. An automatic adds $1000 to the price, for a total of $29,990. Regardless of the transmission, CX-30 G20 models are powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre petrol four cylinder engine, with 114kW/200Nm.

Standard kit for the money includes an 8.8-inch widescreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and in-built navigation, adaptive cruise control and a head-up display. The brand has packaged a decent array of safety across the range, with front and rear emergency braking being a stand-out.

Up next is the 2021 Mazda CX-30 G20 Evolve, from $31,590 before on-road costs. Reasons to step-up include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Like the entry-level CX-30 G20 Pure, the optional “Vision Technology’ package can be added for $1500. Doing so yields a 360-degree parking camera, advanced driver monitor system, front cross-traffic alert and front parking sensors.

If you’re chasing all-wheel drive, you’ll be most interested in either CX-30 Touring or flagship CX-30 Astina grades, as both are offered in all-wheel drive in conjunction with a more-powerful 139kW/252Nm 2.5-litre G25 petrol engine.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 G20 Touring starts from $36,490 before on-road costs in front-wheel drive form, and $38,690 in all-wheel drive trim wearing a $2200 premium. Additional features for the money versus the CX-30 Evolve includes leather seats with driver’s side electric adjustment, keyless entry, and auto-dimming side mirrors.

Sitting at the top of the range is the 2021 Mazda CX-30 Astina, offered with four different drivelines. The first two are front-wheel drive, with the Mazda CX-30 G20 Astina costing $39,190 before on-road costs, and the Mazda CX-30 G25 Astina $41,690.

The second two are all-wheel drive, but very different in terms of offering. One is an all-wheel drive version of the G25 Astina costing $43,690.

The other is the 2021 Mazda CX-30 X20 Astina, which uses the brand’s SkyActiv-X M Hybrid technology. In a nutshell, the brand uses a supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with spark-controlled compression ignition – similar to how a diesel engine fires its cylinders.

It also adds a 24-volt electrical system to further reduce emissions. Compared to the 2.5-litre all-wheel-drive G25 Astina, Mazda claims the CX-30 X20 Astina M Hybrid uses 11.7 per cent less fuel, or 6.0L/100km compared to 6.8L/100km. It costs $46,490 before on-roads, $2800 more than the more powerful and non-hybrid Mazda CX-30 G25 Astina.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 range is now available in Australian showrooms across the country.
