Subaru’s popular Outback mid-size wagon (or SUV, depending on your view) is getting a makeover for 2020, which should only take a good thing and make it better. The 2020 Outback follows in the footsteps of other recent Subaru redesigns: subtle changes outside, but major differences inside and under the hood.

Among the biggest changes is a move to the stiffer, more capable Subaru Global Platform. That platform underpins other new Subaru models and, in those vehicles, has improved ride quality, handling and noise levels. Other highlights include a new turbocharged engine, more upscale interior design and a redesigned multimedia system with an enormous, 11.6-inch touchscreen that’s standard on all but the base model.
