New images show boxy crossover’s A-Class inspired interior as it edges closer to production.

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLB has been spied once again, though this time photographers have snapped images of the new SUV’s cabin.

Despite the black sheets covering most of the dashboard and door details, we can see the GLB will have an almost identical cockpit to the related new-generation B-Class, incorporating a dual-screen driver and infotainment setup with the company’s new MBUX intelligent software.

As we’ve already seen with previous prototypes, the GLB will pack large-car practicality in a small package, similar in concept to the B-Class small MPV.

Where the current GLA looks to be more of a jacked-up hatchback, the GLB adopts a more traditional SUV shape, and is quite square in its design – which should maximise passenger and cargo space.

Based on the A-Class and B-Class platform, we can expect the GLB to be offered with a range of small-capacity turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, with the availability of front- and all-wheel drive.

Key rivals will include the BMW X1 and Mini Countryman, both of which are on the larger side in the premium small SUV class, along with the new-generation Audi Q3.
