More details about the range remain undisclosed at this point, though.

Porsche Australia has announced preliminary pricing for the 2019 Macan four-cylinder petrol, which heads up the range set to arrive in the first half of 2019.

The base Macan, with power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, will cost $81,400 before on-road costs. The new engine makes 185kW of power and 370Nm of torque, identical to the outgoing powertrain. It’s hooked up exclusively to a seven-speed PDK transmission.

Inside, the dashboard has been mildly overhauled. The air vents have been moved from beside the touchscreen to below, while the screen itself is now a 10.9-inch unit. Porsche Connect, complete with a 4G module and SIM card, a wireless hotspot, Apple CarPlay and app-connectivity is standard fit.

A new GT sports steering wheel is optional as part of the Sport Chrono package, mimicking that of the 911 with an integrated mode switch. A heated windshield and ‘air ioniser’ have also been added to the options list, but equipment largely mimics that of the current model.

Specifications and pricing for the up-spec Macan S haven’t been announced. We don’t actually know what will power it yet, either. There’s talk the 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 from the Panamera could replace the current 3.0-litre engine, but Porsche hasn’t confirmed.

Place your bets, folks. The new Macan range will be available in Australia during the first half of 2019. Expect a more detailed pricing breakdown closer to launch.
