Facelifted ute snapped in Europe ahead of reveal, sporting pumped-up looks.
The updated Mitsubishi Triton has been spotted by photographers during development testing on European roads, ahead of an anticipated reveal either later this year or early next.
Despite being completely wrapped in a swirly black-and-white camouflage, we can still see the overall shape of the facelifted ute, which will draw a lot of inspiration from the related Pajero Sport off-road wagon.
Up front is an interpretation of the Japanese brand’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ grille, already seen across various models including the aforementioned Pajero Sport, Outlander, and Eclipse Cross.
The top tier of lighting likely houses the main headlights and daytime-running lights, while the lower section incorporates the indicators and fog-lights.
It looks like the rear should get some design changes as well, including revised lights and bumpers, along with new alloy wheel designs. The guards are pumped up, and the bonnet line is taller than before, for a meaner look in keeping with its rivals in the dual-cab market.
We haven’t seen pictures of the interior yet, though we’d expect some upgrades to the cabin trims and the company’s latest infotainment system.
It’s also believed there could be some small changes in store for the powertrain too depending on market. Currently, the Australian-market Triton’s most powerful engine is a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel making 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque.
We reckon the most likely update in store for the Triton is the eight-speed automatic transmission currently used in the Pajero Sport – this isn’t officially confirmed, though.
