According to Fiat, the fault could lead to excessive vibration, a shaking steering wheel, uneven tyre wear, noisy suspension, and steering problems.

Fiat Australia has recalled 143 examples of its Ducato van, citing a potential fault with the steering system.

The affected vehicles were sold between 1 June 2019 and 30 November 2020, with all examples stamped Model Year 2019.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says: “The vehicle may have been fitted with incorrect steering knuckles during the production process and may not perform as intended.”

“This may result in clunking noises from the suspension, excessive vibration, shaking steering wheel, uneven tyre wear, [and the] vehicle pulling to one side instead of going straight,” the notice continues.

“This could increase the risk of an accident, causing death or injury to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

CarAdvice has contacted Fiat to find out if there have been any recorded malfunctions in Australia. This story will be updated with its response.
