The vehicle jack – used to change a flat tyre – for a number of Mercedes-Benz SUVs may be faulty and fall short of Australian product safety requirements.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled 4093 examples of its 2019-2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS due to a faulty vehicle jack which may also not meet Australian safety requirements.
The GLE large SUVs, GLS upper-large SUVs and EQC electric SUVs were built by Mercedes-Benz between 2019 and 2022.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “The vehicle jack provided with certain vehicles may be faulty and also may not meet the requirements of the Australian Consumer Product Safety Standard.
“If a faulty vehicle jack is used, it could become unstable and the raised vehicle may fall.
“If the raised vehicle falls whilst using the jack, this would increase the risk of serious injury or death to anyone under or near the vehicle.”
