Vehicles Affected: Approximately 46,000 model-year 2018-19 Volvo XC60 SUVs
The Problem: Under certain conditions and cold temperatures, the tailgate lifting arms may freeze, which may cause the lifting arms to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the tailgate lift arms with an improved design for free.
What Owners Should Do: Volvo sent an interim notification to owners on Jan. 31; a second notification will be sent when parts for the fix are available. Owners can call the automaker at 800-458-1552, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
